Scripture: Matthew 26:17-35

This week we have seen how God chooses the marginalized, a surprise to those in the story with power. In today’s reading, we see how God uses common, ordinary things that are available to ALL people to show God’s love. In this common meal, that everyone (Rahab, the poor, thirsty or imprisoned, the woman who anoints Jesus, and all of us today) can eat, the bread and the wine, Jesus is remembered. Not only do we think about Jesus when we take communion, but we are brought back together, all of God’s creation, as in remembered. All are welcome at God’s table and God shows up for you…as in y’all!

Holy Eucharist

Sunday, August 14, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Worship in the Episcopal Church rests on scripture and the traditions of the elegant language of the Book of Common Prayer. While the worship might seem more formal than spontaneous, we reliably read scripture every time we worship together, and we follow the liturgy that has stood the test of time. Our worship is in letting the liturgy carry us along into a deeper spiritual awareness and connection with God.
