Scripture: 1 Samuel 16:1-13a

In today’s world of marketing, commercials, billboards, videos, YouTube, selfies and social media, it’s easy to get caught up in what people look like. It’s also easy to think that we have to look certain ways and wear certain clothes, or get lots of picture likes on social media in order to be popular or have value. But this is not so in God’s eyes. God looks at what is in our hearts to pick leaders and call them to share God’s love with the world. Today’s story is about how God looked at the heart of David, rather that his outward appearance, to choose him as the next king of Israel.

Holy Eucharist

Sunday, August 14, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Worship in the Episcopal Church rests on scripture and the traditions of the elegant language of the Book of Common Prayer. While the worship might seem more formal than spontaneous, we reliably read scripture every time we worship together, and we follow the liturgy that has stood the test of time. Our worship is in letting the liturgy carry us along into a deeper spiritual awareness and connection with God.
